Diversity & Access Office (D&A Office) ensures University-wide compliance with federal, state and local regulations concerning non-discrimination and disability access. To accomplish this mission, the office works collaboratively with vice presidents, deans, department chairs, administrative managers and human resources staff who have direct responsibility for achieving the University's objectives. The D&A Office provides an array of services and resources designed to ensure equal opportunity and equal access, and to address bias and discrimination prohibited by law or official University policy. The D&A Office also assists individuals with disabilities who have requests for accommodations in the workplace and access to Stanford facilities, programs and activities.

Other Stanford Staff Groups

Stanford staff groups were established over 30 years ago to provide all staff members with opportunities for professional, educational and social support. The staff groups sponsor monthly events to promote social networking and professional development, including art walks, museum tours, faculty lectures and speed networking events.

Departments and Programs

  • Asian American Activities Center, A³C, is a department under the Vice Provost of Student Affairs and serves as Stanford’s primary resource for Asian and Asian American student affairs and community development.  The A³C contributes to the academic mission of the University through its partnerships and collaborative work with faculty, departments and academic programs.  Through programming and advising, the center facilitates the multicultural education of all students and the development of leaders who are able to negotiate an increasingly diverse and complex workplace and global environment.

    • Asian American Interactive Mentoring (AIM) program Want to get involved with the A3C (Asian American Activities Center)? Sign up to be a mentor! Founded in 1993, the Asian American Interactive Mentoring (AIM) program matches Asian American sophomore students with Asian American faculty, staff and alumni for one-on-one mentoring experiences. AIM seeks to provide these students with mentors who are sensitive to cultural differences that may affect a student’s experience and success at Stanford. AIM also seeks to provide faculty, staff and alumni with a means of interacting with undergraduates in a meaningful way.
  • Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity (CSRE) is Stanford’s interdisciplinary hub for teaching and research on race and ethnicity. 
    • Asian American Studies, AAS, offers students interdisciplinary analytical tools to actively study and research the Asian American experience and provides an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the historical and current experiences of persons of Asian ancestry.
  • Bechtel International Center serves as a resource for international undergraduate and graduate students and is Stanford’s liaison to U.S. federal agencies regarding visa regulations that impact international students, faculty, and staff. Bechtel seeks to address concerns of international undergraduate and graduate students, offers orientation programs for all incoming international students, and assists students in adjusting to Stanford culture.

  • Office for Religious and Spiritual Life is committed and devoted to ensuring lively, thoughtful and supportive contexts for Stanford students, faculty and staff who wish to pursue spiritual interests. We recognize that a spiritual/religious journey can be an important, balancing complement to the numerous challenges one faces in the pursuit of academic and career goals. The ORSL promotes enriching dialogue, meaningful ritual, and enduring friendships among people of all religious backgrounds.
